An Evening at Vinny & Vito, Village Hotel Leeds North

Recently, I was also invited to dinner at the newly opened Vinny & Vito at The Village Hotel, Leeds North, situated just outside Headingley. I was really excited to go and it was great to be able to take the Mr along too!

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Vinny & Vito. The decor was fantastic and so was the atmosphere!

It was pretty busy when we arrived, but we were seated and served drinks promptly. We tried the Wandering Bear Rose wine - it was lovely and fruity!

Our waiter was attentive, and as I couldn't choose between starters, he had to come back a few times before I had finally chosen!

There was plenty on the menu to choose from - even my fussy Mr was spoilt for choice!

To start, I had the Calamari Fritti with Garlic Mayonnaise and the Mr had Bocconcini di Prosciutto con Scarmoza (baked smoked cheese with cured Italian ham).

The calamari was crisp on the outside and lovely and tender on the inside; and the garlic mayonnaise had a great kick. The Mr also really enjoyed his starter - the piece of cheese and ham I pinched was lovely too!

I chose the Linguini, al Granchio e Peperoncino (Crab and Chilli linguini) with a side of Rocket & Parmesan for my main, and the Mr chose the Lasagne al Forno.

Both main courses were presented well and arrived within a reasonable time of us finishing the starters. We did wait a little while at one point for another drink, but it was quickly resolved when we reminded the waiter. The Mr loved the lasagne and the linguini was lovely too. There was just the right amount of chilli so it didn't overpower the flavour of the crab.

We were both quite full after the starter and main courses, so we both opted for a light, refreshing sorbet for desert. I chose the lemon sorbet and the Mr chose the orange sorbet. Followed by an espresso, it made for a lovely end to a lovely meal.

All in all, we had a great time. The restaurant was busy and vibrant, and the service for the most part was very good considering how busy they were. More importantly, the food was lovely - much more than we'd expected for a chain hotel restaurant.

We're both looking forward to visiting again in the future - we'd definitely recommend a visit!

Thank you to Rachel McAlley and General Manager Orla Watt for inviting us. We had a great time and will be back again soon!

I couldn't resist getting my photo taken on the Vespa!
