Update No 3

There are a few things that have been going on in the background since my last post that I wanted to share with you all.

Firstly, I'd like to thank you all for taking my little blog up to 10,000 page views. I really appreciate all of your support and lovely comments!

I've been learning some picture editing, HTML code and CSS recently, which I've gradually been applying to the blog.

I'm a bit of a computer geek and can spend ages playing with HTML code and picture software - I've made a new background, updated the layout, and made some new blog buttons and social links over on the right.

I was really pleased to be contacted by Renshaw's PR agency following the recent Royal Baby Cake Competition. They had spoken to my local newspaper - the Yorkshire Evening Post - for a small article. As I hadn't heard anything for a while, I'd assumed that it would be published following my trip to the Peggy Porschen Academy.

However, when I went to work on Friday morning, my colleague Pam told me to check the notice board. She had spotted my article the previous evening in the paper and brought it in to work for me!

I was expecting a small paragraph, but I was shocked when I saw the size of the article!

This week, I was asked to make a birthday cake for another colleague's mum. Kirsty's mum is turning 60, and she was after a cake with some pink and orange flowers.

I decided to have a go at the Painted Daisy Cake as featured in Issue 9 of Cake Decorating Magazine.

I'm really pleased with the end result and Kirsty really liked it too. I hope her mum enjoys it and has a great birthday!

Window Shopping Wednesday

As I was baking on Wednesday evening, I completely forgot to post this week's Window Shopping Wednesday... Window Shopping Wednesday will be back next week - sorry for the delay!

I've also been thinking about having some guest posters doing a Window Shopping Wednesday post too - if you'd be interested in writing a Window Shopping Wednesday post please let me know!

New Recipes

I've been planning a few Japanese-themed bakes over the last week. I enjoyed so many types of cakes and sweets when I lived in Japan, and I was recently inspired to try and make something with a Japanese theme. There are currently 3 recipes that I'm in the process of planning - I can't wait to test them out and share them with you all!

I think that's all that has been going on over the last week, but if I've forgotten anything I'll share it over on my Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages.
